Victor Avramov is a lecturer and researcher at the Athena Institute, VU Amsterdam. His research interests revolve around the politicisation of science, social conflicts emerging around scientised controversies, and how democratic innovations can address such conflicts.

He has contributed to research on the public engagement and role perceptions among climate scientists in the Netherlands, and has been involved in the organisation and facilitation of regional and national citizen assemblies. His methodological interests include participatory and agonistic approaches, including contributions to the design of an agonistic theatre methodology.

Alongside his research, Victor teaches Science & Society courses spanning from theoretical foundations in STS to hands-on Science Communication programmes. He is an active member of the Athena Institute’s Junior Development Team and served on the organising committee of the 2024 EASST/4S conference.
