Vylon Ooms is an external PhD Candidate at the department of Environmental Economics of the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His research concerns the assessment of how insurers can incentivize climate risk reduction actions of their policy holders. In his research, he links climate adaptation to insurance schemes.

At the same time, Vylon is policy advisor on climate change at the Dutch Association of Insurers (Verbond van Verzekeraars). In his work, he connects science to the practice of Dutch insurers. He organizes events where the newest scientific insights are shared with the Dutch financial sector. Furthermore, Vylon co-authored on the report of the Climate Adaptation Working group of the Dutch Central Bank (DNB) and is part of the Sustainability Working Group of Insurance Europe. Vylon represents the Dutch Association of Insurers in the research projects ACCREU, Future FRM tech, NATURANCE, PIISA and RED&BLUE.
