Profile

Willem Verschoor is Professor of Finance and Director of the School of Business Executive Programs in Finance. He is also Research Fellow of the Tinbergen Institute.

Professor Verschoor has broad knowledge and experience in strategic, operational and organizational processes in the financial industry and the university community, as a senior executive, supervisor and professor. Moreover, he frequently acted as consultant and expert reviewer for a number of government agencies, financial institutions, and universities, including the European Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the Dutch Central Bank, the Rabobank Group, and the Academy of Finland.

Previously, Professor Verschoor was Dean at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where he founded the School of Business and Economics. He has also been Professor of Finance at Erasmus University Rotterdam, where he also served as Director of the Department of Business Economics and as Fellow of the Erasmus Research Institute of Management; Professor of Financial Economics at Radboud University Nijmegen, where he also served as Chairman of the Economics Department; and Professor of International Finance at Maastricht University.

Professor Verschoor holds a PhD in International Finance from Maastricht University. His research focuses on empirical asset pricing, international finance, market microstructure, financial crises, and risk management. He has published over fifty articles in leading academic journals including Journal of Business, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Markets, IMF Economic Review, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, and European Economic Review.

Professor Verschoor served at various Supervisory Boards such as Optimix Investment Funds N.V. (Chair), and Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development (AIGHD). He also served as Member of the Amsterdam Economic Board (AEB), as Member of the Advisory Board for the Global Finance Forum in Chur, Switzerland and as Advisor Capital Management at Stichting Pensioenfonds Atos Origin. Currently, he is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Add Value Fund N.V. and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS B.V.).
