Xuanya is a PhD Candidate within the department of Environmental Geography at the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM). She has a background in geoinformatics (BSc) and urban planning (MSc). During her MSc thesis, she applied a methodology to model and measure perceived walkability using AI technologies and street view images, followed by spatial and equality analysis.

Her research interest lies in transferable methods for urban applications to support sustainable development and quality of life. Currently, her PhD research focuses on understanding the relation between green-blue infrastructure and densification through mapping ecosystem services (temperature and pluvial flood regulation). Her work is part of the RUGBIS project.
