PhD Project

Family violence brings tremendous costs to individuals and society. Although it is reliably associated with multiple problems, the pathways underlying these associations are poorly understood hampering effective interventions. We propose that self-control strength plays a key role in family violence because of its foundational function in regulating behavior, emotions, and cognition. We will use a genetically informative design and data from one of the world's largest twin-family databases (the Netherlands Twin Register) to investigate—for the first time—individuals’ susceptibility and resilience to the effects of family violence and their interplay with self-control strength taking gene-environment interplay into account.

Fingerprint Fingerprint is based on mining the text of the person's scientific documents to create an index of weighted terms, which defines the key subjects of each individual researcher.
