Logic in Action in Late Antiquity

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

This project will contribute to our understanding of the teaching of logic, mathematics and philosophy in late ancient Alexandria, and contextualize it, through research on three focal points of "logic in action": the principle of non-contradiction in Asclepius, Hypatia's legacy in science and logic, and the interrelation between changing logical concepts and practices, historical and philosophical context, and cognition.
