Description

GOMIAM is a knowledge network on small-scale gold mining and social conflicts in the Amazon, set up in the period 2010-2016 with funding from NWO-CoCooN. During the project, GOMIAM compared states, environments, local populations and miners by means of research, dissemination and policy advocacy activities in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Suriname and French Guyana. With our network we hope to continue sharing our knowledge and maintain dialogue with miners, NGOs and politicians. With our partners in the field, we can organize meetings and activities. Through this website we share our research, policy briefs, newsletters and publications. This way, we want to continue with our contribution to conflict transformation processes and a more sustainable small-scale gold mining sector in the Amazon.

Layman's description
