Abstract
The strong field ionization dynamics of multielectron transition metal atoms in infrared laser fields was analyzed. Investigations show that the ionization rates and saturation intensities were independent of the experimental parameters. A strong suppression of ionization of multielectron transition metal atoms was also observed in relation to the single active electron approximation expectations. It was concluded that the dynamic polarization within the multielectron atoms leads to the need of many-body theories of strong field ionization.
