Abstract
The success of knowledge acquisitions is dependent upon firm’s ability to integrate
knowledge-based resources and thus share knowledge, in order to innovate. Regardless of the increasing number of knowledge acquisitions, however, an understanding of how successful firms direct their knowledge sharing activities remains absent. This paper argues that acquisition-based dynamic reconfiguration capabilities can be seen as a distinctive knowledge integration ability of successful firms. The purpose of this paper is, therefore, to reveal the underlying mechanisms and practices that act as micro-foundations of such dynamic capabilities, in order to understand how to manage more successful knowledge acquisitions.
