Abstract

In this work, we present a chatbot that is able to provide emotional support to stressed users. Based on inputs provided by its users, in the form of text or voice messages, the system is able to: (1) identify different types of stress, (2) select appropriate types of support and (3) construct corresponding support messages and send them back to the users. It uses IBM’s services for natural language processing (NLP) and dialogue flow management, via the respective API’s. The chatbot can also be connected to online social networks such as Facebook Messenger, allowing users to interact with it via such platforms (e.g., through desktop and mobile devices).
