Abstract
A focus on ‚Bildung‘ is really urgent, because neo-liberal aspects in politics and education are still strong. Cognitive approaches as well as the need of a neutral stance in religious education are propagated publicly by religious scientists to the detriment of the aim of religious/worldview personhood formation. Philosophers of education and religious educators are invited to criticize this, to take part in public debates on religious education and to strengthen their role as public intellectuals. The existing plurality makes it necessary that pupils should be able to deal with this plurality and develop necessary competences that foster their personhood formation.
