Abstract

This book is the English translation of Stefan Felber’s (2013) Kommunikative Bibelübersetzung: Eugene A. Nida und sein Modell der dynamischen Äquivalenz. It provides a comprehensive description of Nida’s translation theory while simultaneously launching a frontal assault against this theory and against dynamic equivalent (DE) translations, especially in English and German. The author’s aim is to analyze Nida’s work on Bible translation, examine its impact on translation practice, and present a critical evaluation of Nida’s theory, particularly regarding its perceived theological shortcomings.
