Abstract

This blog explains the legal intricacies surrounding border procedures in transit zones under EU law. It focuses on the way in which these procedures relate to the fundamental right to personal liberty and argues that EU law sets clear and unambiguous constraints to the use of border procedures and accompanying measures of detention, much more so than general human rights law.
