Abstract
Zinc tolerant and non-tolerant ecotypes of Silene vulgaris (Moench) Garcke were examined for their suitability to provide an efficient and reproducible callus formation and regeneration system. Successful and rapid regeneration of adventitious shoots from callus was achieved in leaf tissue but not root or apical meristematic tissue using concentrations of plant growth regulators that spanned a concentration range of (0.05-1 mg l
