Abstract
The Indian constitution,’ Kalpana Kannabiran writes:
gives voice to counter-hegemonic voices of justice, rooted in the resistance movements and argumentative traditions that have blossomed in the region at different points in history. […] Given the realities of the social order into which the constitution was introduced it has confronted incessantly the crises precipitated by the conflict between the status quo and constitutional morality.
