Abstract

This entry defines cross-cultural alliances and highlights their specificities compared to domestic strategic alliances. Departing from the premise that national cultural and cultural distance embody both opportunities and threats to strategic alliance success, the authors detail the influences of those two factors on the different stages of cross-cultural alliances life-cycle, such as alliance formation, partner selection, negotiation, governance form, management, and performance, ending with opportunities for future research.
