Abstract

Within conversation analysis, “delay” refers to the placement of a unit of talk or embodied conduct later than projected within a turn-constructional unit (TCU), turn, sequence or conversation. Delay qualifies the progressivity of the ongoing conversation and thus is treated as accountable by interactants.
