Abstract

Constructions such as je haar doen ‘to do your hair’ are argued to be best analyzed as point of reference constructions (in the sense of Langacker 1993, 2009). In this type of doen-construction, the direct object, e.g. je haar, is conceived of as giving mental access to an act in which je haar plays a determining role.
