Abstract
The dynamics of extended rodlike bodies in membranes and films were discussed. The response of the two-dimensional membrane to an in-plane force was calculated by solving the coupled equations for in-plane and out-of-plane fluid motions. The dynamics of the internal modes of a semiflexible inclusion was observed to find two dynamical regimes in the relaxation spectrum. The result show that the drag of motion perpendicular to the rod axis exhibited purely local drag per unit length in the limit of a long rod.
