Abstract
A successful global energy transition requires a negotiated global deal on fossil exit that also takes into account the interests of fossil exporting countries and companies. It also requires a reduction of the current giant global welfare gap and a focus on new ways of measuring and enjoying welfare beyond simple GDP measurement and consumerism. These are the core arguments of the book Energie voor groene welvaart (‘Energy for green welfare’) that is now available from Aeneas Publishers. The book was written as a discussion piece for the PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency.
