Abstract
In this Epilogue, the editors of the volume In Search of the Spirit(s) of Capitalism. World Religions on Markets & Morality look back at the various contributions. There seems to be a remarkable convergence between the various world religions that have been presented in this volume. They all have a positive attitude toward free markets, business and trade but provide important qualifications for this approval-on-principle. Markets only contribute to human flourishing when all actors in the market behave virtuously, when the actors are not carried away by the temptations of greed and selfishness, and in order to cultivate that attitude, actors in the market have to watch themselves closely, and develop self-knowledge.
