Abstract
The heterogeneity of the epistolary genre makes letters relatively difficult
to read for students of Latin at secondary schools. In this article we propose a
division of (parts of) letters according to text type, each with its own linguistic characteristics.
Knowledge of these text types should help students of Latin at secondary
schools in translating letters, since this knowledge guides them in their (text)
linguistic expectations.
