Abstract
This deliverable presents recommendations for development of the SocKETs toolbox, offering
technology owners and other stakeholders guidance in facilitating societal engagement (SE) in Key Enabling Technologies (KETs). KETs potentially have a great impact on society; their development should therefore be aligned with societal values, needs and concerns. It is therefore crucial that such actors in innovation trajectories are enabled to engage with citizen perspectives. The recommendations for the SocKETs toolbox have been formulated based on the experiences and in-sights from SocKETs lab owners as they explored SE with KETs together with both technology owners and citizen / social actor participants across six co-creation labs in Europe between September 2021 to July 2022. In order to capture these rich stories in a structured format, the Vrije Universiteit (VU) from Amsterdam conducted a reflexive evaluation together with the six SocKETs lab owners during this period. This deliverable addresses: 1. the added value of a reflexive evaluation format, 2. the results from the reflexive evaluation process (unpacking the challenges, insights, and underlying values and assumptions that shaped lab owners’ coordination of the SocKETs labs), 3. an analysis of the possible impact of such insights from the SocKETs labs on co-creation tools and processes, and finally 4. a list of recommendations for the SocKETs toolbox
