Abstract
The erasure of a bit of information requires the dissipation of a minimal amount of energy as being formulated in Landauer's principle. We show that for an information processing device in a static gravitational field Landauer's lower energy bound is determined by Tolman's temperature relation. © 2006 Elsevier B.V.
