Abstract

The chapter describes practical ways for integrating formative assessment in regular physics lessons. Concept checks can provide much insight in students' conceptual understanding and can be quick (a few minutes) when using graphical response formats such as graphs and diagrams. Feedback can be immediate. A series of concept checks can actually be used to teach and practice skills in applying concepts such as force diagramming with immediate feedback ("fast feedback series").
