Abstract

This essay, included in the exhibition catalogue: Iris Kensmil – Blues Before Sunrise, explore the work of artist Iris Kensmil, within the framework of what scholar David Scott describes as the Archaeology of Black Memory. It explores Kensmils ongoing exploration of Black musical genres as part of a necessary politics of remembering Black lives, Black radical politics against forces of erasure.
