Abstract
This article discusses the genetics of brain morphology measures. We start by discussing results from the twin literature showing the heritability of brain structural traits, followed by a discussion on genome-wide association studies (GWAS) that aim to identify the biological mechanisms that drive variation in brain morphology. We conclude with several examples of how imaging-genetics can be used to shed light on neurodevelopmental and psychiatric conditions.
