Gods, Temples and Ritual Practices: the Transformation of Religious Ideas and Values in Roman Gaul

Research output: Book / ReportBookAcademic

Abstract

The Roman conquest of western Europe had many consequences for the local inhabitants; although the political and economic circumstances have been investigated thoroughly, very little attention has been paid to effects on religious life. In this book for the first time a consistent picture is drawn of the religious representations and the ritual customs of the populations of northern Gaul.
