Abstract

The official IBO report, published just before the regional government elections on March 15th, 2023, outlines all kinds of new revenue models for farmers to meet climate and nitrogen targets. Still, the coldly and abstractly formulated proposals will not convince farmers who care about their work and land. To this end, concrete examples are needed of how, with the help of the government, their business model can be adjusted profitably to cope with the targets with respect to environmenal policy and nature conservation. It is good that in the regional governments, where the climate and nitrogen policy must be implemented, it is now up to the BBB party to act after their major election victory. The BBB voters would then be right on their side if the party succeeded in finding support for measures whereby the targets of the climate and nitrogen policy remain feasible.
