Het concentratiekamp als heilige ruimte

Translated title of the contribution: The concentration camp as sacred space

Research output: Contribution to JournalArticleProfessional

Abstract

The concentration camp has become part of European collective memory. There are various reasons for considering it a sacred space: not only because prisoners at the time celebrated liturgy there, however strictly prohibited, or made it an individual sacred space in prayer, or because it is a place where people commemorate the victims who died there, but most importantly because it reminds us of what man is capable of and warns us to always stay alert not to let it happen again.
