Abstract

In this article Die doorne croone onser liever vrouwe is edited and commented upon. This meditation exercise is only preserved in MS. Antwerp, Ruusbroecgenootschap, neerl. 37, fols 139v-149v. It applies the traditional scheme of the exercise of Jesus' crown of thorns to Mary's suffering and combines it with the also traditional scheme of Mary's seven sorrows.
