    Abstract

The aim of this thesis was to address diagnostic and clinical challenges in the field of advanced colorectal adenomas and early rectal cancer. The first part of this thesis described histopathological risk factors for adverse outcome and diagnostic variability in the evaluation of advanced colorectal adenomas and early colorectal cancer (CRC). After local excision of early CRC treatment options vary. In early rectal cancer treatment in particular, consequences differ in terms of morbidity, ostomy rates and oncological outcomes. Therefore, the second part of this thesis focused on short- and long-term outcomes of potential treatment options after local excision of early rectal cancer.
