Abstract

Managing diversity is now widely understood as both a societal and organizational concern around the world, beyond the US where the concept was originally conceived. But although discrimination and exclusion at work towards historically disadvantaged groups are widespread globally, the focal targets and magnitude of this marginalization are highly dependent on the context and its history. Mirroring this diffusion, yet with local translations, equality, diversity and inclusion at work has become a fully-fledged scientific field of inquiry. This Handbook adds to this growing body of literature. It also makes a contribution by filling an invisible gap, that of including under-researched countries - though some of them might be highly exposed in the media. We were able to reach out to non-universalistic and context-sensitive research in these national contexts. These include Austria, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, India, Israel, Lebanon, Mexico, Morocco, Singapore, South Africa, and Turkey.
