Abstract

© 2021 IEEE.We study the propagation of light through a three-dimensional (3D) superlattice of cavities that is embedded in a 3D photonic band gap. In such a superlattice of cavities, light propagation takes place as a result of inter-cavity coupling. Light supported by the cavity modes takes certain preferred high-symmetry paths inside the structure, hence known as 'Cartesian light' [1].
