Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is threefold. First, a description will be given on how we can align conflicting interests in an organization in line with the grain of human nature. Secondly, a framework will be provided to manage organizational integrity more humanly by compiling research and literature insights. This framework provides the elements of a form of good government for the organization. Third, an analysis will be made on what this means with regard to leadership.
In doing so, this chapter makes several important contributions. First, it provides a new way of organizing human efforts. This provides a better understanding on what needs to be done to create organizations that are fit for the future. Secondly, it will help (compiance) professionals to understand the key conceptual elements of the framework and the interrelationships between the elements within the framework. This will help to identify and remediate effectively and sustainably in case of shortcomings in organizational integrity. Thirdly, it provides a framework that works with the grain of human nature instead of against it - like the bureaucracy-infused management practices. It will spur initiative, creativity, passion, responsibility and innovation. This will make organizations more human and therefore more adaptable and efficient.
