Abstract
In today’s workplace, meaningful work has emerged as a crucial element of the employee experience, even surpassing the importance of pay and career advancement. This is especially relevant in healthcare, where attracting and retaining skilled employees is a growing challenge. Recognised as a powerful driver of both well-being and turnover intentions, meaningful work is essential for both individuals and organisations alike. This dissertation delves into the factors that shape, enable and hinder the experience of meaningful work and explores the interactions between employees, teams, and the broader organisational context. Through this research, we gain a deeper understanding of what makes work meaningful and how organisations can create environments that foster this.
