Abstract

Missing participants have become a significant issue for mature private pension plan systems around the world. Against this backdrop, regulators in various countries have adopted different approached seeking to ensure that plans make sufficient efforts to locate and pay benefits to those individuals. This article explores the current approaches that are used in the United States, Canada, South Africa and The Netherlands.
