    Abstract

The mobility of extended bodied in viscous films and membranes were analyzed. The motion of rodlike inclusions were also was also studied. A purely local drag was found for rotations and motion perpendicular to the rod axis, in which the drag coefficient was purely algebraic in the rod dimensions. The application of the calculational methods for mobilities of extended bodied to the analysis of diffusion of objects in Langmuir films and lipid membranes was also discussed.
