Abstract

The global prevalence of obesity is increasing rapidly. Unhealthy lifestyles in combination with genetic susceptibility are the main cause for this global epidemic. Particularly the accumulation of visceral fat poses a great risk for cardiometabolic diseases and other chronic noncommunicable diseases already in children and adolescents.
