Abstract
Extensive analysis of the impact of the ECHR on religion and state model thinking in the Council of Europe when it comes to restricting foreign funding for national religious organisations. The Turkish situation is used, distilling principles from the applicable case law of the ECtHR with which to analyse the Dutch situation - coming to conclusion that while the Turkish case was born of the wish to limit 'state religion', its application to the Dutch situation allows reason to allow the foreign funding of 'state religion' to be sustained.
