Abstract
In the Netherlands the ‘NOW scheme’ has been set-up for the payment of wages to employees who have lost turnover due to the corona crisis. The original set up of this scheme was disadvantageous for growing companies with job creation (e.g. start-ups and scale-ups) and beneficial for shrinking companies with job destruction. In other words, both job creation and job destruction were slowed down, which is detrimental to the economy. This article proposes to take sales per employee (in FTE) as a criterion: it is a simple way to overcome this disadvantage of slowing down job creation.
