    The significance of policy influence on teacher education and research cannot be overstated, as frequently policies shape the development of schools, teacher education and the identities of teachers and teacher educators. Policies designed by governments steer the direction of educational initiatives, with projects and research funded by governmental bodies serving as mechanisms to implement desired reforms.
