Abstract
The right of access to advances in technology is provided in Article 27.1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights where it is stated that “Everyone has the right to… share in scientific advancement and its benefits.” This right is inspired by the basic moral principle of equality and the notion that science and technology belong to the common heritage of humankind. This final chapter will discuss how the right provided in Article 27 applies to the right to health. Since crucial choices will have to be made in relation to advances in medical technology we will also look into responsible ways of planning future choices. We propose a human rights-based assessment of stories about possible futures.
