The postmodern Fall of Man - An Essay on Safety, Criminal Law and Humanism

Research output: Contribution to JournalArticleProfessional

Abstract

As the twenty-first century starts, the focus of interest is the subject of safety. Crime has increased and become more serious in the past quarter of a century; we have also started to look more closely at the needs of victims. People everywhere seem to call for more criminal justice and for stronger action in criminal cases. Although criminal law is a necessity, ultimately its possibilities are limited. However, new approaches to the safety problem are developing in the area of criminal law and in its periphery. The fruitfulness of adopting a moral approach to crime is advocated.
