Abstract

This dissertation is intended to construct a theology of the public sphere. The are two contexts of this research, namely, the theoretical context which is public theology in general and the practical context which is the Indonesian public sphere and public theology in particular. Theology of the public sphere is an interpretation of the philosophy of Hannah Arendt and Jurgen Habermas from the perspective of Abraham Kuyper's principle of sphere sovereignty. The interpretation will be followed up by the constructive theological reflection which will finally have implications for public theology and the Indonesian context.
