Abstract
Life cycle assessment (LCA) is used for making science-based decisions. One part of that science is that many of the numbers that enter the calculation suffer from uncertainty, and that certain choices have to be made as well. As a result, the information that is used by the decision maker is subject to uncertainty. Uncertainty and sensitivity analysis are generic names of techniques that seek to identify and quantify such uncertainties. This article surveys these two fields.
