Abstract

This article looks at the ways in which gender dynamics have shaped and been shaped by the Houthis (Ansar Allah) in Yemen from the 2011 uprisings to the present day. In particular, it addresses how the roles and participation of women have gradually changed to better respond to new challenges and needs related to the 2015 war and to the Houthis' goal of seizing state power and building a nation according to their own ideological interests.
